How does mygate differ from crypto brokers and finance apps?

mygate is not a pure trading app and not a classic bank account. The app combines payment account, card and crypto features in one interface. Additional investment areas are planned.

Account, card and crypto in one app.

mygate is not a pure trading app

Many crypto brokers focus on buying and selling crypto assets. mygate takes a broader approach: payment account, card and crypto features come together in one app.

That changes the comparison. Someone looking only for the lowest trading cost will compare differently from someone who evaluates account, card, support, custody and German partner structure together.

The most useful question is not which app has the loudest fee claim. It is which app fits your use case, cost questions and security expectations.

Putting costs into context

For crypto comparisons, looking only at visible order fees is not enough. A provider can charge low or no separate transaction fees while the spread remains relevant.

At mygate, crypto trading means 0% transaction fees plus a spread of up to 1.1% included in the displayed crypto price. This is transparent, but it still has to be considered when comparing different pricing models.

Fees in detail

Costs that are often missed in comparisons

Crypto costs can appear in different places. Some providers show an order fee, others work more through spreads, minimum amounts or exchange rates. For users, the full view matters more than one isolated percentage.

Cost pointWhy it mattersmygate context
Transaction feeSeparate order fee when buying or selling.0% transaction fees for crypto.
SpreadPrice component in the buy or sell price.Up to 1.1% included in the displayed crypto price.
Minimum orderDetermines from which amount an order is possible.Crypto orders from EUR 10.00.
CustodyRelevant when crypto assets are not only viewed as a price product.Custody through a BaFin-licensed crypto custodian.
TransferRelevant if crypto assets are transferable depending on function. No separate mygate transfer fee; availability can depend on asset and app feature.

Which solution fits which use?

A fair comparison starts with the use case. Someone who trades crypto very actively will evaluate different criteria than someone who wants account, card and crypto in one everyday app.

Use caseWhat to check
Buying crypto occasionallyCosts, minimum order, ease of use, risk notices and custody are central.
Using account and card day to dayIBAN, card function, support and partner structure matter more than pure trading features.
Holding crypto longer termCustody, transferability, buy and sell costs and risk disclosure count.
Watching investment expansionPlanned areas such as stocks, ETFs and tokenized real-world assets are not live product areas yet.

Custody and partner structure

A comparison is not only about app design or price. It also matters who takes which role. Mondo Gate AG acts as an e-money agent of PayCenter GmbH. Crypto custody is provided through a BaFin-licensed crypto custodian.

This keeps roles clear: Mondo Gate AG is not a bank and not the sole provider of every regulated service.

Planned investment areas

Stocks, ETFs and tokenized real-world assets are planned product areas. For comparison, this means mygate is designed as a broader finance app, while account, card and crypto are the current focus.

If you compare mygate with a multi-asset app, separate today's functions from planned product areas. Account, card and crypto form the current comparison base; planned investment areas show the direction, but they are not a substitute for a live feature.

The Frankfurt School/intas.tech study on crypto trading costs provides external context on roundtrip costs and spreads. mygate was not part of the providers studied and is not ranked from that study.

Sources for comparison

For a fair view, we use sources that are not a single provider ranking. They show why cost components, custody and regulatory terms need to be considered separately.
